Fugitive on the run

Fuengirola - Police are searching for a 52-year-old Chilean man who managed to escape the cells of the Fuengirola Local Police station and locked in an officer instead.

A Police officer was reopening the road after the Plaza de La Hispanidad equestrian parade when he was knocked down by a car before he was able to move. His motorbike was also knocked over and he was dragged for several metres while attempting to pull the key from the ignition of the car.

Other officers at the scene were able to detain the vehicle and the driver who was drunk. He was taken into custody but was released later. But the Local Police brought him back to the station after discovering that he was living in spain illegally.

When he and another detainee were taken to the toilets. While his cellmate was taken back to the cell he crossed the corridor. When the officer returned to the toilets he found the detainee gone. The officer attempted to go after him but found the door to the corridor locked and by the time he was able to raise alarm the fugitive had disappeared.
