Essential Oils vs Chemical Spray
Every morning when I make my way to the kitchen still half asleep
and disorientated, I find myself imitating the motions of a traffic
jam, coming to a halt then moving forward again when the obstacles in
front of me start switching lanes, due to the army of ants marching in
perfect buzzing harmony through the streets of my living room.
Mosquitoes have me agitated by night and itching all morning. By day its
the flies keeping me occupied like some sort of Scarface figure, hoovering over
the table with my most powerful tool, the fly swat, ready to kill and destroy
the enemy.
I am not a great fan of the chemical high of insecticidal spray and neither
is the environment around me, my cats, the kids walking in and out.
So after reading a collection of interesting articles on the use of essential
oils for air sprays to act as a insect repellent I thought this option deserved to be
explored in my own home.
A simple mixture of Lavender Oil and water in a glass or ceramic spray bottle
can clear your home of flies, mosquitoes and other unwanted guests.
But even for the simple pleasures of a lovely scented home, oils such as Bergamont

and child diseases like chickenpox the infection of other members of the household
can be avoided.

Repetitive Strain Injury (R.S.I)
As the name already suggests, Repetitive Strain Injury is a painful and disabling condition caused by the performing of repetitive movement. People most affected are typists and computer operators, although people working in factories where there duties include pulling levers are equally at risk. The injury usually affects the wrists and elbows.
Out of fear of loosing their jobs, a lot of people try to deal with R.S.I with painkillers, continuing to perform the same movements which caused the R.S.I in the first place. This will cause the inflammation to get worse and spread up the tendons until the upper arm is affected as well.
At first signs of trouble, a cold compress of German Chamomile can be used to reduce the inflammation. You can do this up to four times a day and in the initial stages this can be very effective. Birch oil acts as and analgesic and can be very helpful when massaged gently into the affected area. A lot of people prefer hot compresses in the later stage of this injury, alternating between hot and cold compresses will help stimulate the healing.
This alternative treatment will need to be kept up for several months and a variation of oils is necessary, however return back to German Chamomile and Birch as much as possible since they give a lot more relief than other oils.
